Bio
Devin Lebeau is a stern man of conviction with a strong will, which often serves as both his greatest strength and his most significant flaw. His beliefs on religion, morals, ethics, and general outlook are unyielding; once his mind is made up, it is nearly impossible to change. He is not merely stubborn; he is cemented in his views, remaining unshakable unless he decides otherwise—a rare occurrence.
This rigidity extends to his expectations for his son, Jacques, whom he constantly chastises for not embodying the ideal son he envisioned. Devin's disappointment stems from Jacques' natural personality and interests, which he perceives as distractions. Rather than accommodate his son’s needs, Devin attempts to mold Jacques into his vision of perfection, leaving no room for deviation.
Despite their differences, Jacques inherits his father's unyielding will and headstrong attitude. Eventually, he grows weary of Devin's attempts to reshape him and reaches a breaking point. Recognizing that he will never be the son Devin desires, Jacques decides to sever ties with his father’s expectations.
With the loss of Jacques’ mother and the final thread of familial connection severed, Devin feels no obligation to continue raising a child who refuses to conform. He places Jacques in the care of an uncle, choosing to abandon the role of a father. This new home, however, proves to be less nurturing than the streets.
Freed from the burdens of family and responsibility, Devin now seeks a life that brings him happiness, if such a thing exists for him.
